# People

> Invite people, change roles, and set a monthly credit limit from workspace settings

People is where you manage who is in this workspace. Open Workspace settings → People.

Owners and admins can invite, change roles, remove, and suspend. They can also see how many credits each person used and set a monthly limit for one person.

## Roles

| Role | What they can do |
| - | - |
| **Owner** | Every management action. Cannot be removed, demoted, or suspended. Can hand ownership to another member. |
| **Admin** | Manage members, change workspace settings, top up the pool, and read usage. |
| **Member** | Spend the workspace pool on chat and generation, and read their own usage. |

> [!NOTE]
>
> Owners and admins pass the same management check. The difference is that the owner cannot be removed, demoted, or suspended.

A member is active, invited, or suspended.

## Invite

An invite is a link with a token. Email is optional: fill it in and the product sends mail, or copy the link yourself.

**1. Create an invite**

Workspace settings → People → Invite. Pick a role. Email is optional.

**2. Send the link**

Copy it, or let the product send the email.

**3. They accept**

They sign in and confirm. If they have no account, they register first.

An invite lasts **7 days**. After that, send a new one.

When the seat limit is above 0, both creating an invite and accepting it check the count. Only accepted members take a seat. A limit of 0 or empty means no cap. Removing a member frees a seat immediately.

## A limit per person

By default a workspace does not cap each person. When a member's monthly limit is above 0, that person can spend at most that much from the pool this month. Past the limit they see "This month's workspace quota is used up". A limit of 0 means no cap.

## Leave

Any member can leave. The only owner must hand ownership to someone else first.

After you leave:

* You are no longer a member, and you cannot open chats and files in that workspace.
* The credit pool stays with the workspace.
* Your account remains. The current workspace falls through to another workspace you still belong to, or back to the one created at signup, which cannot be closed.

## Failures

| Message | Meaning | What to do |
| - | - | - |
| Seat limit reached | The workspace is full | Remove a member, or raise the limit |
| Invite expired | Older than 7 days | Send a new one |
| Cannot remove the owner | The target is the owner | Hand ownership over first |
| Workspace credits are topped up by an admin | A member tried to top up the pool | Ask an owner or admin |
| This month's workspace quota is used up | That person's monthly limit is spent | An admin raises the limit, or sets it to 0 |

## FAQ

> **Does the invited person need an account first?**
>
> No. The link sends them through registration, then into the workspace.

> **What is the difference between suspend and remove?**
>
> Suspend keeps the membership. They take no seat and cannot spend the pool. Remove deletes the membership. Neither can be applied to the owner.

> **Can an admin change workspace settings?**
>
> Yes. Management actions only distinguish "owner or admin" from "member".
